The CIA Team has a team of sponsors, called the "SWAT Team" (Sponsors With A Testimony)-an elite group of outstanding people eager to reach teens and train them to live as disciples for Christ. Right now, only the Jr. and Sr. High youth are allowed to raise funds to go on youth trips (though that is currently under evaluation by the Youth Committee). The way these youth and their families can raise money is by donating and participating in PWAP fundraisers. Each item you donate helps you to earn money for your child's account. Also, in working fundraisers, every hour worked by the child earns them 1pt. Up to two adults can work at any given time to help a youth earn points as well, only every adult hour is only worth a 1/2 a point because we really want to encourage the youth to help out. At the end of a fundraising period (normally runs the same as the school year), all the money that has been raised is divided by the total number of points that have been earned by youth and adults to determine how much money each individual has. Each youth might also have some personal sales they have made such as selling Butterbraids, in which they will get all the money they have earned from their personal sales:
Below is an example of how this might work/look:
Katie is an 8th Grader who wants to go to the Confirmation Camp. Katie works the Spaghetti Supper for 4 hours and her mom works there for 4 hours too. (This means she has earned 4pts. and her mom has earned 2, giving Katie 6pts. so far.) Katie works the Palm Sunday Breakfast for 2 hrs, her mom works 2hrs, and she donates 4 dozen eggs (She earns 3pts, and earns 1 pt for the 4 dz. Eggs) Kate sells 5 Butterbraids for $8 a piece, with a profit of $3.50 for each one sold (Katie earns $15.70 for her personal sales.) Now it is May. The total money not held in personal sales, totals to $3000 and the total points earned for everyone is 200. Making each point worth $15.00 Katie's Total PWAP Account looks like this: Carryover: $24 (funds she earned last year and hasn't spent) Personal Sales: $15.70 Points earned: 9pts = $135 ______________________ $174 .70 in Katie's PWAP Account The Camp costs $340. Katie's parents have to pay the deposit of $75. She gets an early bird discount by registering before Sept. 30th and then she gets $150 for half the registration cost (minus any possible discounts like EB Discount) through the church camp fund for CJH. This would mean her due balance to CJH would be $75. She could pay the remainder of this balance ($75) off with her PWAP funds, and then she will have 99.70 left to spend on other youth events or retreats that come up during the summer and the school year.
